Humble King.

“11 The LORD said, “Go out and stand on the mountain in the presence of the LORD, for the LORD is about to pass by.”

Then a great and powerful wind tore the mountains apart and shattered the rocks before the LORD, but the LORD was not in the wind. After the wind there was an earthquake, but the LORD was not in the earthquake.12 After the earthquake came a fire, but the LORD was not in the fire. And after the fire came a gentle whisper.” - 1 Kings 19:11-12

I was listening to a brother the other day in small groups and was just really encouraged by what he said about it. God tells Elijah that His presence will pass by. As He comes the winds TEAR UP MOUNTAINS, rocks SHATTER, the earth QUAKES and fire comes! …yet, when this God of such magnitude and power comes, He comes in a whisper. This is the same God that doesn’t just create mountains, he creates SOLAR SYSTEMS, GALAXIES, etc and yet He comes with a whisper. God is the ONLY one in the entire world that could be justified in His ego (because He is LORD), AND YET, He comes to Elijah with a gentle whisper.

When He comes to Abraham, as He is about to destroy Sodom and Gomorrah, He doesn’t come in clouds of flame, God WALKS. He approaches and interacts with His creation in a way that we are able to relate to. He doesn’t have to, obviously. HE IS GOD, and yet He does. This humility is even further magnified when He comes as Jesus. GOD cared to humble Himself to the point of becoming like His creation. Even to the point in which He was born in a manger! Then He died a horrendous and humiliating death on the cross. Truly, THE ONLY ONE who had the right to flaunt His greatness and glory, humbled Himself to a point that we cannot even measure. I still can’t imagine nor comprehend the magnitude of what was done on the cross. For GOD to be crucified. For the very same person that didn’t just say He knew the truth, He said, “I AM the truth…” to be flogged and whipped. What humility… A truly humble King.
